POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN THE COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE ON IMPLICIT PROCESSING OF PERCEPTION, DECISION AND INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION.
A postdoctoral fellowship is available at the California Institute of Technology (Pasadena, California) for study of the behavioral and neurobiological basis of implicit perception, emotion, decision-making and social communication. The fellow will be supported in the context of research collaboration between the Toyohashi University of Technology (Japan) and Shimojo Psychophysics Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology. Research may involve novel integrations of psychophysical and cognitive neuroscience methods, such as reaction time, eye tracking, fMRI, TMS, tDCS (tACS), and high-density EEG including “hyper scanning” (i.e. interpersonal, simultaneous recording). The research focus is thus defined very broadly, negotiable upon discussion, and determined among the collaborators. This highly interdisciplinary position will provide training in the various areas that inform the new fields of cognitive neuroscience, and will take advantage of Caltech’s broad expertise via internal collaborations as well. Candidates should have completed a Ph.D. or/and M.D. and have relevant research experience that might include, but is not limited to, experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and neurobiological engineering. Technical and experimental skills of programming and the above-mentioned methods would be preferred. Salary will be based on the NIH guideline but beyond, and commensurate with experience. Positions are available to start immediately, although consideration will be given to candidates who would prefer a later start date. It is a one-year position, although renewable upon performance up to 4 years.
