Postdoctoral Position (Anesthesiology Department-Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City)
Diany Paola Calderon lab at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City has an opening postdoctoral position in her new laboratory.
This position seeks a person who has strong background in neuroscience and/or computational neuroscience. Experience in neurophysiology and programming skills in MATLAB or python are desirable.
Research in the Calderon lab focuses on understanding how the different components of the arousal pathways establish and maintain consciousness in the brain. In particular, we want to determine how neuronal circuitries produce adequate brain activation in order to treat impaired consciousness after brain injury. We currently use in vivo recordings in anesthetized and awake mice, optogenetic/pharmacologic stimulation and behavioral studies to answer these questions. Insights obtained from these neurophysiological studies will be translated to clinically relevant disorders of consciousness by incorporating animal models of traumatic brain injury.
This position is supported by NIH funding and will be paid according to NIH pay scale. Health and dental insurance are provided as well as other benefits offered by Weill Cornell Medical College.
