Applications are invited for a BBSRC (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council) funded postdoctoral research position in the group of Dr Shuzo Sakata in the Centre for Neuroscience, University of Strathclyde (CeNsUS), Glasgow, UK.
Mission of our research team is to understand how sensory information is processed by brain circuits, with emphasis on hearing. This funded project particularly concerns age-related and cell-type-specific changes in auditory cortical processing. Combining state-of-the-art in vivo electrophysiological and optogenetic approaches in a variety of transgenic mouse lines, we are aiming to comprehensively characterize cell-type-specific information processing in the auditory cortex across the life course.
Candidates should have a PhD in the field of neuroscience or related disciplines including engineering and physics. Experience in at least one of the following areas is desirable: in vivo neurophysiology, computational neuroscience, and optogenetics. Experience with programming and/or engineering would be advantageous.
