Global proposal of brain science promotion at the Ise-Shima G7 Summit

Members of Japan Neuroscience Society

Ahead of the G7 Summit at Ise-Shima during May 26-27, 2016, the G-Science Academies, an assembly of academies in 13 countries and Africa, have finalized three Joint Statements. The statements can be seen at the following site of the Science Council of Japan.
One of the three statements is entitled “Understanding, Protecting, and Developing Global Brain Resources”. This fact highlights the importance of brain science research in the modern world and reminds us of the great responsibility borne by our society. We expect that the statement will help broaden recognition of brain science and its social contribution, leading to expansion of research infrastructure and significant increase of funding for brain/neuro science in Japan.
