Board of Directors Election

Dear JNS members,

President, The Japan Neuroscience Society

The first election of the Board of Directors is being held as a general incorporated association. Elections are conducted under the supervision of the Election Administration Committee. In accordance with the Articles of Incorporation, candidates for the Board of Directors are elected from the council members eligible for election. For an overview of the election, please see below.

The council members are entitled to stand and vote in the election of directors. General members can view the list of candidates and other information in the members-only website (login required) Top > "News/Documents" section.

Election of Board of Directors FY2025 (Summary)
The maximum number of directors is 20, and half of the directors are elected every two years. In June 2025, the 10 directors will end their term of the board, and candidates for new directors will be elected to replace them. A vote of confidence will be held for the remaining 10 directors, including the president, to determine whether they should be reappointed.

From:　Annual General Assembly in June 2025
To: 　　 Annual General Assembly in June 2029 (2 terms, i.e. 4 years)
*After the election, the term of the directors officially begins after approval by the General Assembly.
*The term of the directors is 2 terms, i.e. 4 years. At the end of the first term, i.e. after 2 years, a vote of confidence is held.

[Request for registration of academic domains] (For all members)
The number of directors for each academic domain is determined based on the ratio of the number of members in each domain to the total membership. The ratio of membership per domain is calculated based on the results of the survey completed by all members. So, if you have not yet registered your academic domain, please do so on the membership website.
*Council members should not change their academic domain during their term of the board.
*The ratio of membership per academic domain has been posted to the members-only website.

Candidate eligibility:　　 Council members  (Female candidates are welcome!)
Requirements for candidacy:

1) Council members who are 65 years of age or younger (born on or after July 1, 1960) as of the end of June in 2025
*However, the age limit shall not apply to candidates receiving a vote of confidence for a second consecutive term of director.
2) Recommenders (2 council members other than the applicant)
*A councilor may nominate only one candidate.
